The Jellicle Ball
The Heaviside Layer

The Heaviside Layer is done as an almost instinctual action to a full moon once a year. Old Deuteronomy is somehow "empowered" by the "Everlasting Cat" to take one Jellicle to the sky and up to the Heaviside Layer. Like the myth of cats having nine lives, the Jellicles do get the chance to go to the Heaviside Layer. The Jellicle then appears the next day as a young kitten of about 2 or 3 human years (4-5 Jellicle years). The kitten will only ever have vague notions and faint memories of his/her past life. The kitten will have the same markings of it's previous life and will be given the same name, but will have the option of choosing a new name once he/she is old enough. Jellicle's will not come back to a new life if killed or died of natural causes. The Heaviside Layer is the only way to come back. This is treated with reverence and is like a spiritual matter to the Jellicles.

The "Sensual Dance":

During the part which is considered the 'mating dance' by many fans; it is not a 'mating dance' in which they actually do 'the deed'. They do, however, become close, and show thier 'sensual' side to each other. During the dance, it's a natural feeling for the Jellicles as the whole part of that part of the ball is supposed to explore many different emotions as they dance it out. (Sensual, happy, proud, unsure, content, confusion, joy, etc...)

The first Jellicle to ascend to the Heaviside Layer was Peter.
