Costumes I've Made

Here are some of the full costumes and pieces of costumes which I've made recently.

Electra Wig

The wig is made using a nylon/spandex swim cap base. The 'fur' is made of natural and dyed jute twine which was hot-glued onto the base. There is a slight earthy scent to it due to the natural jute being used. But this scent is light and not bad.

The wig is made using a pantyhose base. The 'fur' is rug yarn which was hand-tied into the base and then trimmed and styled.

The unitard is a medium-sized Bal Togs mock turtleneck made of nylon/lycra. I hand-painted it using Jaquards metallic silver textile paints. The fluffies are made from bits of Harmony liner fabric and frayed. There is a zipper up the back as well as a silver snap in the middle of the lower back to fix the tail in place.

The warmers were hand knitted using double-point needles and knitted in the round so there is no seam. The yarn used was a white boucle, Paton's Cha Cha eyelash yarn in white, and Paton's Allure in Platinum to give it a very light silverish coloring here and there. The arm warmers have a thumbhole in them. The bottom of the legwarmers have elastic 'stirrups' sewn into them in order to help keep them in place. They also have elastic at the top to hold them up. The arm warmers are 10" long each and approximately 11" in diameter at the top of the warmer. The leg warmers are 23" long with a 15" diameter at the top and a 9" diameter at the ankle.

The tail uses a nylon rope base and then yarn wrapped around it.. The yarn used was a basic white acrylic, a white boucle, Paton's Cha Cha eyelash yarn in white, and Paton's Allure in Platinum to give it a very light silverish coloring here and there. The tail belt is long enough to wrap around the waist 1 1/2 times so that it could be tied in the back. There is a snap sewn into the top of the tail to secure it in place on the unitard. The tail is 38" long. The tail belt is 73" long.
