Thought Process Example
Here is an example of a thought process of creating a storyline:
We'll use the metallic disk as an example for creating our storyline.
What if Jarius found a metallic disk on the ground? Okay. So he did and let's say he picked it up to look at it. What would be on it? Nothing? A picture? Writing? Let's say there's writing on it. Okay, so what would be written? How about a name? Fine. A name is written on one side. And the other side? A short phrase. Okay, so...what's the name and phrase? How about...Serena and...oh, I know... "remember the solstice truth". Now we have to ask...is Jarius someone who is curious enough to ask around to find out about Serena and what the phrase is? Or would he hand the disk to someone else? Let's say he's curious.
We now have our plot set up. ~ Find out who the disk belongs to and what the phrase means.
At this point, we need to consider a few questions and options. Does Jarius meet Serena? Or has she passed away and he meets her daughter or son, or even a sister? Will he find out the meaning of the phrase? Or will it remain a mystery? Will his search for answers take him to far away countries or keep him close to home? Will his search unravel long, hidden secrets? Will this turn out to be a mystery? An adventure? A romance? A combination? You decide what happens next.
There are all kinds of questions that come to mind and a full story is built upon that one small metallic disk.
