Thank you for your E-mail regarding copyright infringement.

Obviously any matter regarding illegal use of any of our material is taken very seriously and we do our best to control these situations and keep them minimal.

Your question concerning unofficial sites about various productions owned by RUG is a frequently asked question and the answer is quite simple.

We cannot and do not try to shut down unofficial sites on the Internet unless there is a serious legal infringement, i.e if a site contains a full libretto, the owner/webmaster is claiming copyrighted material as their own, or the web site is a profit making organization. Screen captures, stage door pictures, song lists, fan fiction, drawings, costume making and using names of characters from our shows as screen names is accepted and no one will be reprimanded for using such material on their web site.

It would be impossible to trace and remove every unofficial site and we understand the passion that many fans possess for musical theatre.

Having said that, all sites must contain a disclaimer, informing guests that the site is unofficial and is not a profit making page/organization. It must also state the name of the company who owns the copyrighted material.
