Descriptions of Characters

• Alonzo~ An alert and curious tom who helps to fight Macavity. In London, he is black and white, but he is more brown in the US version. There is a rumor that he and Demeter are mates.
  
  
• Bombalurina~ The red queen is savy and dangerous with a sharp mind. She knows the area and knows what she wants and desires. Some say she and Tugger might be close. Some also say that she and Demeter are sisters. Others say they are best friends only.
  
  
• Bustopher Jones~ A very fat black tom who has white paws. He is well respected, and other cats feel honored if he nods or bows his head in thier direction. Some say he is Mistoffelees' uncle.
  
  
• Cassandra~ Beautiful and mysterious. She's a dark siamese and always looks as if she were holding some major secrets.
  
  
• Demeter~ She often is very tense and high strung, due to her fear of Macavity arriving. It is rumored that he had captured her long ago and tormented her, among other things, and had vowed to come back to finish the job. However, when she isn't fearful, she is a caring cat who likes to help others. She is a yellow and black tabby. Some also say that she and Bombalurina are sisters. Others say they are best friends only. It is also rumored that she and Munkustrap are mates. There is another rumor that she and Alonzo are mates instead.
  
  
• Grizabella~ An older gray queen who is desperately trying to be accepted back into the tribe. She believes that she would find happiness there.
  
  
• Gus/Growltiger~ An old, theater cat who recalls his past quite often. One of his favorite memories was when he portrayed Firefrorefiddle, the Fiend of the Fell. He also portrayed Growltiger in a daydream-like performance for the audience.
  
  
• Jellylorum/Griddlebone~ A white and cream colored queen. She helps Gus when he's around. She acts as a mother-type for all the kittens there. She also plays Griddlebone against Gus' Growltiger. Some say that she might be his niece.
  
  
• Jennyanydots~ An orange tabby with some spots. She like to sit and sleep all day, but at night, she gathers the mice and beetles to keep them from getting into trouble. She seems to have a "thing" for Bustopher Jones.
  
  
• Macavity~ A ginger cat who terrorizes the tribe. He catnaps Old Deuteronomy in the show and almost takes off with Demeter. He fights Munkustrap and Alonzo and finally leaves defeated. It is rumored that he had once catnaped Demeter and tormented her.
  
  
• Mistoffelees~ A small black cat who is quite playful. He is a magical cat, but somewhat humble as well. Some say that he is Bustopher Jones' nephew.
  
  
• Mungojerrie~ A notorious and mischevious catburglar. He's constantly on the prowl for adventure with his sidekick, Rumpleteazer. Some say that he and Rumpleteazer are mates, others say they are siblings, and still others consider them to be just good friends.
  
  
• Munkustrap~ A large grey and silver tabby. He seems to be in a leader-type position with the cats. Some have called him the "Keeper of the Kittens". Some say he is the next in line to be the Jellicle leader. It is rumored that he is Old Deuteronomy's son, and Rum Tum Tugger's half-brother. It is also rumored that he and Demeter are mates.
  
  
• Old Deuteronomy~ The old, gray leader of the tribe. He is a wise cat and can send one cat to the Heaviside Layer. Some say he is the father of Munkustrap and Rum Tum Tugger. Others say he is father to most of the tribe there.
  
  
• Plato~ An adult tom cat who has an interest in Victoria. He can be seen throughout the show.
  
  
• Pouncival~ A young tom who tries to be an adult. He is brown and white.
  
  
• Rumpleteazer~ A notorious and mischevious catburglar. She's constantly on the prowl for adventure with her sidekick, Mungojerrie. Some say that she and Mungojerrie are mates, others say they are siblings, and still others consider them to be just good friends.
  
  
• Rum Tum Tugger~ A cool cat who's a bit on the wild side, but he gets away with it because he's a charmer. He's very curious. Some say that he and Bomb have a thing going, but it is unsubtantiated. There are also rumors that he is the son of Deuteronomy and the half-brother of Munkustrap.
  
  
• Sillabub/Jemima~ A sweet, brown and white kitten with a big heart. She is playful but has a wisdom that seems beyond her years.
  
  
• Skimbleshanks~ A tan/orange cat who works for the railway. He seems to be like an uncle to all the younger cats in the tribe.
  
  
• Tumblebrutus~ AKA Bill bailey in the London production. He also is a young tom who tries to act like an adult. Hangs out with with Pouncival/Carbucketty.
  
  
• Victoria~ The white queen who is just coming into adulthood. She is playful, yet tries to be mature as well.
